Cigarette brands in Spain
 

I know this question will put off some people, but some of us are addicted to nicotine ! Are international brands of cigarettes available in Spain, or are there Spanish brands ? Some countries have levied enormous taxes on cigarettes to make them expensive, and discourage their use. How much does a pack of cigarettes cost in Spain ? Any local brands that you would recommend. Non-smoking posters may kindly refrain from giving advice on evils of smoking !!

I don´t know about Spanish brands, but the most usual cigarrette brands are the same all over the world.

You'll find most international brands of cigarettes in Spain and they are cheap compared to the rest of Europe.

"Lola" is a Spanish brand.

You will see Ducados smoked everywhere, at least by those without taste. They are obnoxious smelling. Try not to sit near anyone having a pack of them on their table. I think they put wood in them.

Ducados are made with black tobacco. This is similar to the Gitanes or Gauloises in France. I think Germany has one too called Rothandel (sp?).

I've smoked all of these before graduating to cigars (large and small and medium sizes).

In my experience, you can buy Marlboro pretty much anywhere.

Why not pick up a few cartons of whatever you smoke at duty free? That's what I always do..when I'm going to Europe I'll pick up enough for my trip, and coming home I'll pick up enough to last me a while (yeah, yeah, over the legal limit). I smoke SilkCut, which you can't get in the states, it's a UK brand.

That sounds like the bargain of all time. Cigarettes here are $8/$9 per pack and up - often way up (including the special city non-smoking tax).

You should find Marlboro, Camels and Lucky's with no problem--the packaging on the Camels is a bit different though.

I second MissZiegfeld--buy at duty free on the way out of the states (they will only allow you 2 cartons), then buy as much as you can to hold you until your next trip. The European airport duty-free shops won't stop you from buying over the limit.

Cigs in the shops are cheap, and even cheaper at duty free--19euro in Spain/carton.

Worse case scenario is that you have to pay the tax on your cigarettes over the limit (still cheaper that the $7-8/pack in NYC), though I have never been asked to do so, though I have also never been asked to have my luggage inspected, but have hand-carried 8 cartons of cigarettes through and they did see them.

With "fuzzy math," you can travel quite a bit and it will pay for itself in cigarette savings. That's what I tell myself at least. ;)
