There are hundreds of concerts in Paris churches throughout the year, and they are of all kinds of music -- from solo recitals to small orchestral groups. I tend to go to solo piano recitals and string quartets because I prefer that, but also choral groups if it is a piece I particularly like.

Prices generally range from free to around 15-20 euro. There are often two tiers of pricing in the ones I have attended -- with more expensive tickets for the better seats which are just a section (such as 10 and 15 euro seats).

I have not attended the tourist concerts at Sainte Chapelle by the AMP booking group (Les Archets also plays there fairly frequently). Those are more expensive because of the audience (tourists). I also don't know how likely those are to get booked up, but I think some folks above have commented on that. Those are not the only concerts in churches in Paris, although some people only go to them or refer to them in this topic. There are many other concerts with excellent musicians and better repertoire.

I would love to hear Gregorian chants (or similar) in a church--any ideas of where I can find that for later this week or next in Paris?

I remember doing a concert in Ste. Chappelle last year - while I agree that you miss the spectacular windows at night, you entered the church through the doors on the 2nd floor - not coming up from the downstairs like a 'normal' tour. I thought it was neat to enter how the intended users of SC would enter :)

Also, we actually entered into the Hall of Justice (?) - and you could see down the long corridors with no people... kinda like being in the entrance of the Supreme Court with no one in there at evening.

Just a different feeling...

Try this site - there was a thread a few days ago. The way I understand this is that it is last minute - you need to be able to print out your email confirmation for tickets. But the way I read it, it is about 1/2 price for the tickets.

Anyone shed some light?

We've been and are now back. we bought tix to a concert at Sainte Chapelle the afternoon day of the concert.By buying them there, we were able to get a "16-26" price for my daughter. Though we had gone earlier to see the church, the windows were very much visible before the concert began at 7 pm (because it was still a bit light out) so I felt we hadn't needed to make a separate visit earlier.
