chur to Paris Train

I will be ending my 7day Swiz trip at CHUR in the month of October, From CHUR i will be going on to Paris (Disney Land), the best train for me is
"Chur dp 11.16 - Marne la Vallee ar 19.04, change at Zurich and Strasbourg"

Need your advice on the Train booking, since my plan is not yet fixed, can i take the tickets at CHUR station on the travel date morning. As the Zurich to Paris route via Strasbourg will be a TGV, does this train require advance booking or will i be able to get the tickets on the same day.

You could book the trip as soon as you arrive in Europe you could book it online at the sbb.com website. The connection would be through Basel or Zurich depending on the timing.

You can buy those tickets now and they should include the seat reservation on the TGV Lyria service to Strasbourg, etc.

If you are going to be in Switzerland for 7 days and leaving on the 8th day and are traveling around a bit have you looked into the 8-consecutive-day Swiss Pass - then you could use it to go to Basel and then you also qualify for a Pass 2 fare Basel to Paris as you have a Swiss Pass.

Sites with great stuff on Swiss trains and passes and things like the Half-Fare Card - www.swisstravelsystem.com; www.budgeteuropetravel.com; www.ricksteves.com; www.seat61.com. When comparing pass to regular fares compare pass prices in U S dollars if in U S as passes sold here are typically significantly cheaper than for the same pass bought in Switzerland.

Both Zurich-Strasbourg and Strasbourg-Paris will be on TGVs.

You've waited too long to get the best advance online discount fare, but if you book now on the Swiss Rail site, you still can get a slightly discounted fare. Or you can simply wait and buy your tickets in Chur.

In my previous post obviously I meant to say Strasbourg to Marne-la-Vallee--Chessy, not Paris.

there are no trains Strasbourg direct to Marne-la-Vallee I believe? Therefore you have to go to either CDG Airport TGV station or Gare de l'ESt and transfer by metro/RER to Marne la Vallee - or are there now direct trains - if not just concentrate on the Switzerland to Paris fares if the final link is by metro/RER as that is a flat fare - if connecting via CDG Airport then you could buy a thru ticket all by SNCF TGV trains.

You can BUY the ENTIRE itinerary on the SBB website, Chur-Marne la Vallee

There ARE direct TGVs from Strasbourg to Marne-la-Valle--Chessy. They do not stop at CDG and they do not go into Paris.

does this train require advance booking or will i be able to get the tickets on the same day.>

the French portion at least requires advance booking and a reserved seat - perhaps from Zurich Hbf to Strasbourg does not like most Swiss domestic trains do not.

but if price is a factor consider all routes to Paris - including ones from Lausanne and Geneva and Basel (Strasbourg route) - if can save a lot take the first two into Gare de Lyon and simple RER transfer out to EuroDisney gates.

Hello all, Thanks for that input. As i mentioned earlier still my 7 day Swiz Trip is not finalized, i mean to say that i may extend the 7 day to may be 1 or 2 days extra in Swiz, thus can i take the tickets at the station in zurich on my first day of arrival in Switzerland for the below train(wondering if the seats will be fully booked before 6 days)

"Chur dp 11.16 - Marne la Vallee ar 19.04, change at Zurich and Strasbourg"

PalenQ: The direct trains from Zuerich to Strasbourg are TGVs so they require seat reservations.

sids: The Zuerich-Strasbourg and Strasbourg-Marne trains you wish to take are not at all likely to sell out. You should be fine waiting until you get to Chur to book your tickets.

the worst could be that if 2nd class were sold out for some reason you would have to pay extra and enjoy the benefits of first class as these tickets are rarely sold out.
