>those who say "Chunnel" "Frisco" "Cali" "San Fran" and, god forbid, "The OC" are well w/i their rights - but we are well w/i our roghts to consider them classless and clueless and a bit tacky.<

Using "chunnel" might be construed as clueless by those who haven't travelled to that part of the world in the last 15 years but it's only considered classless and tacky by pinheaded and judgmental fodorites.

You might be more comfortable buying your train tickets via the phone. I know I was happier using Budget Europe Travel, calling their 800 number, and talking to a live person who was very helpful in finding the right fares for our family on the EuroStar this June. I don't have the number handy, but if you can't find it, ask and I'll look it up. The rate is the same as face value plus a very small S&H fee. Then you have paper tickets in hand before you leave home. Better call them quickly, though!

Ditto about Budget Europe (800-441-2387). Linda there who does the booking is a Eurostar whizz.

Chunnel? Channel Tunnel? Channel Tunnel Fixed Rail Link? Eurostar? Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL)?
And i always thought that 'Chunnel' came from Scouse (?) Flanner's word for Liverpudlian dialect pronunciation of the word 'Channel'??

Hey, rockhopper7!

Do you fly between the Channel Islands?
