Christmas windows of Boulevard Haussmann in Paris

I know it's a little early, but the department store Christmas windows were inaugurated this week. As the crowds are going to become really intense, I preferred to go there as soon as possible to make a report.

Here is the video of the Galeries Lafayette decorations: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCDCXxdxfs4

I get the video of the Printemps decorations online soon.

If you want more detail with still photos, here is the beginning of my Christmas 2013 report: http://tinyurl.com/md2ffu3 If you don't have time now of if you think it is really inappropriate in early November, don't worry -- I'll bring up the subject again as the season progresses.

Thanks kerouac. I'm sending this to my granddaughters. If you keep adding to it, it will become sort of like a Paris advent card for them.

Oh how many worship the Marketing gods! In the way back, Holiday decorations didn't go up until after Thanksgiving. Now it's before Halloween.

Thanks, k. I'll check back in December.

Monoprix already put their Christmas chocolates and holiday supplies (but not the store decorations, thank goodness)in place starting in mid-October.

Thanks kerouac--we'll be there for a week at the end of November/beginning of December and I'm really looking forward to seeing all the decorations. I've never experienced the holiday season in Europe before.

Hi Kerouac,

Thanks for yet another great peek at Paris. Exactly where is this Galeries Lafayette where you took these pics?

The location is in the title of the report. Metro Chaussée d'Antin or Havre-Caumartin.

" In the way back, Holiday decorations didn't go up until after Thanksgiving. "

Where? And when did Paris start taking its direction from American domestic rituals?

Don't know about Paris, but Father Christmas has been arriving at British department stores on the last Saturday in October since at least 1955.

And the more historically ignorant, or forgetful, of the British population have been whingeing about "Xmas getting earlier" ever since.

Thanks Kerouac.

Christmas decorations went up in our department stores on August 22! Not the windows, thank goodness, but it was still too early.

We were there first week of December last year - seems so recent, but you make me realise how long ago it was

They all kind of blend out here: Hot Cross Buns on January 5th this year! Xmas decorations and mince tarts seem to have been around for months now.

Wish I could be there!! Unfortunately I can't go every month. Maybe next October again for the Arc. Love the video and pictures as always.

Where I grew up in the US flanner, no need to be snarky.

O how I long for the Food Halls at Galeries Lafayette!

I would love to see the Christmas windows at Bon Marche.

Merci pour les photos.

Coucou, Mon Amis!

Pepper, the Bon Marché does its windows considerably later. Last year they were pretty good.

Absolutely beautiful!
I wish I could see it in person. Alas, we won't be in Paris until June. Galeries Lafayette will still be on our agenda, just without the stunning Christmas Tree.
