Christmas week-London then Paris or Amsterdam???

After checking out Fodor threads it seems to make sense to spend 4-5 days before Christmas in London then travel on the 25th to another wonderful place and spend the next 1/2 of my winter 10 day vacation in another wonderful city.Any suggestions because I have the time, rates are good and with a little luck I can upgrade with mileage. I thought Paris or Amsterdam because it works with our airline of choice,USAIR. Thanks

Hi, I'm trying to go to Paris 12/20 till 12/27 then London 12/27 till 1/5/03. How will you obtain your airline ticket. The prices I've researched are not that good. Thanks.

With 5 days, I think that you will find more to do in Paris than in Amsterdam, but I would not deter you from going to Amsterdam, if you wanted to make some day trips outside of Amsterdam. If you are going to go to Amsterdam, at least make a day trip to Delft.

I would definitely vote for Paris, also. Five days in Amsterdam in winter doesn't appeal to me, but I'm not that crazy about that city, even in nicer weather.

May I suggest a compromise between Paris and Amsterdam.........Brussels!

Hi Barry.
As a Londoner I would prefer Paris any day. It is truly a romantic city - you don't have to be a couple to go there; just go an experience the 'movie romance' of the city. If you are going make sure you take a trip down the River Seine by ferry as well as walk it, especially near Notre Damne to the Eiffel Tower. It is just magical. You should try to get to at least the 2 tier of the Eiffel Tower; the view is incredible...another fantastic view and worthwhile visit in Paris is the Arc De Triomph if you are up to walking up 200 or so steps.
Take a shopping trip down Champs Elysees - www.magicparis.com will help you out.
Choose Paris - you won't be disappointed.
Regards, Janie in London
