Christmas Tree in Trafalgar Square
Hi Londoners,
we are going to London for a weekend from dec 3 to dec 5. We have read that the Christmas Tree in Trafalgar Square will be lit at a ceremony on dec 4 at 1815 and would like to see this, but when I did a search on the correct time there seems to be different opinions on both time and date- some say dec 4 and some nov 30. Does any of you know the correct time and date? Some of my traveling companions will be very pleased! Thanks! |
It as 4 December last year, and I can't find any obvious update. The website for the Norwegian Embassy in London seems to be very slow - I'd look there for the official date. www.norway.org.uk

December 4th at 6:15pm is correct.

I suspect that the tree may go up on 30th Nov but as far as I can see, the lights aren't switched on until 4th Dec at 6.15pm.
Enjoy! I might pop along myself... |
Well, the Norwegian Embassy says the Mayor of Oslo will be switching on the lights on the 30th November:

I just called the Mayor's office who said that it will indeed be happening on Tuesday 30th November at 6.15pm. For reference I spoke to a lady called Ruth so if it transpires that it IS 4th after all, you can blame her! (But the Mayor's office really ought to be right!)
So apologies for my incorrect post above and sorry CPH, I guess you won't make it :-( |
Thanks for the info...I won't be in London, but I frequently watch the webcam for Trafalgar Square -

I apologise as well CPH, I was looking at 2003 dates. The norway.org.uk site does confirm the 30th of Nov. at 6:00pm.
