Christmas Markets in Paris
I read in the Fodors Paris 2005 guide that there is a Christmas market outside the Gare D'Est. Does anyone know anything about it, or other Christmas markets that take place in Paris? Thanks

That site is so difficult to use. First of all, I don't see Paris. There is Il de France (outskirts) but not Paris or Il de Cite. Jay, if you can make it work and find us Paris Christmas markets, please post the url here. Thanks so much.

aaargh, I wish I had a map right now. I have lost my Plan de Paris, but here goes: on the Right Bank, behind one of the large hotels across from the Louvre, there is a holiday type market. This is near the Metro stop with beautiful glass bubbles. Does anyone know more of this location? We have been there at Easter and another holiday, and they have a nice little holiday market there.

I believe the area people are thinking of is Le Halles. It is the one near the pompideu centre. We were there several times last christmas. I found a web site last year and will try to find it again.

There is a Christmas market at Gare d'Est, it has an Alsace theme. It is from Dec 3rd through Dec 18th from 9 am to 8 pm (only till 7 pm on 12/18).
There's also one in front of Gare St Lazare and one at the Maison de l'Alsace at 39 ave des Champs-Elysees from nov 22 thorugh 12/21, 11 am to 7 pm (I think that's basically a tourism place for Alsace region). There's one at La Defense, also. In past years, there have been some around Hotel de Ville and in St-Germain (place St Sulpice), as I recall, but I don't know about them this year.
