I would advise Cologne, Pinksmisra. Full disclosure, however, my eldest Son has one of the huts in the Cologne Xmas market, and two in Aachen, so I'm hardly unbiased. They mostly sell higher end woolen scarves, blankets, and other weavings he goes to India and Nepal to buy every year.

How does one get to the Medieval market at Wittelsbacherplatz from Munich Ost?

I cannot decide which is the worst Christmas market. La Defense of Hyde Park.
The German ones are much more interesting.

Hi Melnq8!

Lol, I'm SO not the one to ask!! When I visited, a friend was leading the way, so I wasn't paying much attention. And I'm horrid on the MVV München tranport network... when I'm in town, I usually walk.

But according to google maps, you can take the U5 from Ostbahnhof to Wittelsbacherplatz. According to them, it's a 7-minute ride, and the trains come every 10 minutes.

Or it's about a 40-minute walk.

Hope that helps with your planning!!

I do not understand why anybody would want a "high end" Christmas market (with the notable exception of fancy tree ornaments). Christmas markets should be cheap and cheerful fun, as far as I am concerned. If that means selling the latest tacky gadgets, there no harm in it.

The real shops are already full of high end items all year long.

I won't be a Grinch, though. Here is the photo report I made about the Strasbourg Christmas market last year: http://anyportinastorm.proboards.com...-market?page=1
