Sandicran, you misspelled Bert's name. A Fraudian slip no doubt. Watch out for the spelling police, they are everywhere.

Well, that's the point, really, sandicran. Your punctuation and grammar are excellent. Your spelling is also almost perfect. [I'm sure 'genral' was a typo. And the mistakes in your last post were intentional, I'm fairly sure.] You are one of the few who can spell 'recommendation'. If your posts had been littered with errors I would not have bothered to mention them, but you clearly take care with your typing, so I thought it would be helpful to point out the misspelling of 'definitely', which is spelled incorrectly probably more often than not. If I could have sent a private message, I would have done. I am well aware that many people think that spelling, punctuation and grammar do not matter on forums such as this, but I think that you are not one of them.

This is LOL funny if you are really upset over someone's typos and misspellings. You must be a former English teacher.

Bert454, It may be the tone of your post that matters. Maybe the part where you say "How could you not notice?" It's like saying you are clueless on top of telling them they are illiterate. I try very hard to use correct spellings, but I don't worry so much about others, because maybe they are not using their native language. Please feel free to correct my mistakes anytime my friend, and I hope I won't keep you busy!
Sandicran, please post how your trip went, we'd love to spend Christmas in the area.

As you can see I did have the title of the post changed to reflect the correct spelling of SALZBURG. It was human error and one that I'm not likely to make again. Lesson learned.

I will DEFINITELY report back with a trip report when I return so make sure you look for it in late Jan. or Feb.

I don't know how you got it changed. I have made goofs in the past and wished there was a way to go back and make changes.
Enjoy your trip. We will be in Austria Christmas eve but I don't think we will be able to be in Salzburg (Sp). If we are we will definotely (Sp) be at the Cathedral for the Midnight Mass. It is very very special.

AisleSeat: What I did to have the title changed was flag it and ask the "powers that be" to please correct the spelling. At least this way it will come up if someone does a search for it.

I am looking forward to going to the midnight mass, your description of it is magical. Thanks for the suggestion. It's now a "must see" on our trip.

Have a very nice time in Austria and a Merry Christmas.

Images2: Thank you very much for sharing your trip report, it was very fun to read and gave me some good ideas, too. I'm glad to hear the castle is open on Christmas day.

I seem to remember a tradition of shooting off muzzle loader pistols and muskets from the castle on Christmas day. Maybe someone who is smater than I am can add the real story on that.
