hi there,
i will be going to paris in October as I have been told that Winter in Paris is bone-chillingly cold!
paris is stunning all year round though, so if you're not as sensitive to the cold as I am, then you probably wont mind!
Esti

Depends on where you are from. I'm from New York/Chicago, and I thought Paris was practically balmy when I was there last Christmas. Day time temperatures got up near 50F, and it didn't get below 25F at night - like spring time to me.
But Paris at Christmas is very fun and beautiful - well worth going!

I've been in Paris in early January and found the temperature to be fairly in line with what you'd expect that time of year. Cold and damp. As people say, the key to travel comfort is layers. I had on a tank top (for when in hot night clubs), shirt, sweater and leather jacket and was comfortable. I think being in Paris that time of year is actually better. It's less crowded and the people are more tolerant of non-Francophones....in the summer they are bombarded with people who don't speak the language, which can lead to short tempers and frustration. In the winter, people are more relaxed. I found the quiet winter Parisian landscape dreamy! I'm envious! Have fun!

I was there last Christmas. The days before were somewhat balmy. But Christmas Day it rained almost all day. Didn't matter. Still walked everywhere and lots of people were outside. I took a lined raincoat and wore a scarf, hat and gloves that day and I was fine. Always fun places to stop in and get warm with their fantastic hot chocolate.
