Christmas in London
Planning to spend Christmas in London.
Anything special I should know about
for this time of the year?

Are you bringing any family? Kids? What are your travel dates?

Knowing those things might help us make suggestions...

Pretty much everything, including tube and taxis, are shut down not only for Christmas Day but also for Boxing Day (Dec. 26).

If this is your first trip, be sure to read the tourist brochures before you go. Contact the British Tourist Office in NY for lots of info. Mention Christmas vacation time. Then do the touristy things first. Don't worry too much about the weather or stores. London is great anytime. Try to get tickets in advance for some shows, ballets, etc. We've been to London many Christmases. In fact, we will be there this year. Tally ho and cheerio.

We arrived in London last year on Xmas day. The train into the city was not working, but there was a bus service that was slower, but OK.
You can get your tix for London Eye in advance, on the net. I would do it at night. The view of the city at night was great. We also enjoyed the boat trip up to Greenwich, and took the train back into town. Email if you have questions.

There are several long threads about Xmas in London from last year. If you type London AND Christmas in the text search. they should come up. The main problem is finding things to do & places to eat on Dec 25 & 26 but there are suggestions in these threads. Many nice concerts at that time. Have a great time.
