We spent Christmas in Salzburg three years ago. It was magical. The Christmas Market was on, the town festive and the ice rink in the Mozart Plaza full of skaters. We stayed at a Gasthaus in Anif, a short distance from downtown, that was marvelous and reasonable. It even snowed on Christmas eve. I would return there in a heartbeat.

We loved Christmas in London, even had snow on Christmas Eve. So I'd pick that city, with Paris as a close second. The lights in the department and other stores over the holidays are magical.
