Christmas Day open trattorias with a la carte menus in central Rome

Hello,

We are in Rome for a 4-day weekend, having arrived here on Friday night and perhaps because we have been very busy with taking in a lot of art we are having rather bad luck in eating at good places and it is just so desperately sad because normally Rome is such a good place to eat out in - we are talking trattorias.

We don't want fixed menus, we want normal trattorias that are open where we can order from the standard a la carte menu: a pizza, a pasta, a secondo, that is cooked with gusto in the normal Roman manner, and a decent selection of wines.

We would appreciate any help with suggestions for places open on Christmas Day and the 26th December.

Thanks

It's been 5 years but I stayed over Christmas across the street from L'Angolo di Napoli and we had dinner there, if I recall, 3 times because it was good, the serving staff was fun & it was convenient. It was open Christmas Eve & Christmas. Maybe check for current reviews. Near the corner of Via Cavour & Via Agostino Depretis.

Your hotel should be able to help you with this question.

Our hotel have recommended us to the most terrible places unfortunately, frequently places where their friends have restaurants, it seems: the first place specifically asked if we had been recommended by our hotel, the other an eastern European restaurant serving Italian food and it was not good (I know that one can get good Italian food prepared by eastern Europeans in places like Friuli, for example, but this was very poor). It’s been very disappointing

I did a quick search and found this; perhaps it will give you some options:

Hope you find a good place! But you’re in Rome, which is such a wonderful place to be, and must be amazing over the holiday weekend!
