Christmas Day away from home in a European city...

If you were to spend Christmas Day away from home in a European city of choice with spouse/partner/friend, what would you do? Something traditional, something new... Ideas, thoughts and feedback, please. Thanks!

ttt
I adore italy so that is where I would want to be,
but for Christmas, maybe somewhere in Germany or Austria?

Most likely everything will be closed and few people around. I will go for Paris or Madrid, and walk all day long. These two are the perfect walking cities, in my opinion.

Hi TC,

I would sleep late, have a light breakfast, walk around until dinner time and have a very long liesurely Xmas dinner.

Paris, thank you very much.

The Pompidou is open. So are a few others. My mother enjoyed the Jewish History museum while my sister and I were at the Pompidou. Some of the shops in the Marais are open. Place de Vosges was filled with families enjoying the crisp, sunny air (last year). You can also go to service at Notre Dame (get there early).

And make certain to make a reservation for someplace wonderful to eat dinner (or a big Christmas lunch).

I am thinking Rome. Start with service at St.Peters - and I'm not even a christian, but, it always looks wonderful on TV. And so much of the art in Rome is outside. I've never been to Rome, but if I had to pick a place ...
