Christmas & Boxing Day in London, what should we do?
After reading several posts here, it seems that London will be pretty much hunkered down on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Any suggestions on what to do on those two days?

There's probably more. I just did a google search for "Christmas in London 2008".

Make a reservation at a good hotel for a festive Christmas lunch. They're great fun.
Go to a service at one (or more) of London's historic churches. We especially liked the Christmas service at Southwark Cathedral, south of the Thames.

Book for christmas lunch at one of the posh hotels or restaurants that is w/i walking distance of where you are staying. Be prepared to pay a lot though.
Then after lunch stroll wherever you want - there will be virtually no traffic.
By Boxing Day, there will be things to do. Most tourist attractions are still closed on the 26th (for instance the Br. Museum, V&A, the Tower, the National Gallery etc close Dec 24 thru 26). But there is public transport and shops are open.

We did a great London Walks -- Dicken's London -- on Christmas Day afternoon, starting at Trafalgar Square. There are several walks on both your days. By all means go see a "pantomime", particularly on Boxing Day. If you think this has something to do with a mime getting out of a box -- do some reading -- there is no connection!

You could watch the swimming race in the Serpentine on Chritmas morning:
