Choosing Train Seats

Hoping someone can help me. I'm booking train seats from Rome to LaSpezia, but have no idea which end of the coach the luggage storage is.

Is there a way to find out? I can't find the info on the Trenitalia site. Thanks!

In some railcars there are also luggage racks in the middle, too.

How much baggage are you carrying? There is ample space in overhead luggage racks - especially in first class with fewer folks riding in same-size train car -if worried about leaving in racks by doors maybe bring a small bicycle type lock - and which way your seat will face is important to keepingan eye on those luggage racks - very hard to figure out - doubt if all IC trains are uniformally the same.

It is nearly impossible to find a seat to watch the luggage racks in the center of the car or at the end. It is silly to try to do so. Luggage theft is not a huge item. It may happen but it is infrequent. It it was a big problems, the locals would not be throwing their bags in the storage bins. IF really concerned, then get a small cable lock and lock your two or three bags together. That way if someone wants to steal a bag, they have to take them all. A bit awkward and obvious. Do not lock the bags to the storage bin.
