If you take the "Chocolate train" in Montreux (is that where you take it), wheredo you go? What is included? How long does it take? is it worth it? If you do it by yourself and not take the tour, what would that entail?

Yes, the Chocolate train originates in Montreux. It is run by the MOB, and here is the website with all the information:

It'll tell you the days of the week, start & end time, and products included. You have to click on another link to get the cost (85.40 chf without a Half Fare Card).

If you go, be sure to try "Frigor" chocolate by Cailler. It's a milk chocolate with a soft filling of almond and hazelnut. It comes in a 100g bar size in a red wrapper or red gift boxes of various sizes containing small individual portions. If you like it, look in grocery stores, such as COOP, Denner or MIGROS. They sell 5 or 10 100g bar packages for much less than a specialty store or bakery, e.g.

the Chocolate Train, consisting of a few antique ornate Belle Epoque Pullman cars, also runs to Gruyeres, where there is a visit to the cheese factory and time to walk around the fine fine walled old town. Then it goes to Broc to visit the Nestle chocolate factory before returning for its return to Montreux, with an impressive descent through vineyard clad slopes to reach the lake. Swiss Passes are valid but you must have a first class pass or pay a steep upgrade and everyone has to pay a reservation fee.
