Chocolate Shops in Paris
I'm a chocoholic and would appreciate any suggestions on where to get some yummy chocolate in Paris. Thanks so much.

Grocery stores carry some of the same brands as the more upscale epiceries, at a fraction of the price. I like Poulain bars-- try the "76% noir."
|
We like Debauve & Gallais, 21 rue des Saints-Peres (6th Arr), tel 45 48 54 67.

We loved Maison du Chocolat.

Don't miss Angelina's on Rue de Rivoli. The hot chocolate (Africaine) is a chocolate lover's nirvana.

Hi CN,

I'm pretty sure, based on extensive research, that there is no BAD chocolate in Paris.

Michel Chaudun at 149 rue de l'Universite. Fascinating (and delicious) creations. The shop is like a little chocolate museum.
|
My vote goes to Mulot on rue de Seine in the 6th.......
|
Try Puyricard, on rue du Cherche-Midi in the 6th or avenue Rapp in the 7th. These are artisanal chocolates from the south of France, and they are excellent.

Jean Paul Hevin

My vote goes to La Maison du Chocolat's branch in the 16th, right off the Place Victor Hugo (and by the VH metro stop). A very elegant shop with excellent service in one of my favorite neighborhoods in Paris. Great cafes, restaurants and shops along the Ave. Victor Hugo as well.

Do I have the chocolate freast for you!
At La Maison du Chocolat at 52, rue Pierre Charron they serve a hot chocolate laced with rum that will be in my memory forever. You can choose from 4 chocolates, and I insist you go for the darkest chocolate. You will get a cup of it, plus a small pitcher with a second one. I don't even like hot chocolate usually because I don't like milk, but I LOVED my 2 cups and considered drinking some of my husband's little pitcher! It will cost 6.30 euros and you will not regret it. |
I like "L'Atelier du Chocolat de Bayonne" on rue de Rennes, although it probably is not quite as gourmet as some of the above recommendations (but then, neither am I..)
|
What about the "Jeff de Bruges" stores..?
|
Jeff de Bruges is excellent, as is Léonidas, but they are Belgian chocolate.

Fauchon! Divine. I go to the one near La Madeleine. I checked their website and here are the Paris locations:

50 rue Fontaine, 9th Arr (very near the Moulin Rouge.) She's written up in Patricia Wells' Paris book. |
Try the "tarte au chocolat" from Maison du Chocolat-we got one and ate it in the Jardins du Luxembourg-What an experience! Enjoy

Another vote for maison du chocolat. My favourite are the ones with marron mousse, and the box with prune and apricot(?) fillings.
My other favourite places are Pierre Herme on rue Bonaparte in the 6th and Jean-Paul Hevin on rue st-Honore (actually liked their cakes better). |
