A few more places:
Josephine Vannier, 4 rue Pas de la Mule, near place des Vosges and Bastille, some great stuff, I think it was initially recommended here by Elle. http://www.chocolats-vannier.com/ Tholoniat, 47 rue Château d'Eau 75010 Jadis et Gourmande, 39, rue des Archives 75004 I got some wonderful "Feuilletes d'or" from Chocolat de Bayonne in rue Saint Antoine, just across from metro St. Paul. |
The grocery stores in Paris, particularly Monoprix, had a wonderful selection of French chocolates at good prices. I cannot comment personally as I am not a big chocolate lover, but we brought back lots of chocolate and everyone loved it - but no more so from the expensive shops than from the store.

Maison de Chocolate is the best.
Visit the chocolate society |
La Maison du chocolat is perhaps the best. Also: check out Paul, directly across from the entrance to Au Printemps department store at the Blvd Hausmann location. It features a variety of snacks and desserts, but has very good chocolate items.
