Chocolate in Paris
I left too soon:
http://www.paris-touristoffice.com/c...nts/coeur.html
Elvira, I saw this too the other day! Wow! Can you just imagine?? Yum!!!
Arrrrrggggghhhhh - I leave for Paris on the 6th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
omigod
let's see, if I book now and leave tomorrow....
New treasures for the Louvre. Who needs the Mona Lisa?!
My sister is in Paris now but she isn't a chocoholic-what a waste. But I am so excited I will be in NY when the Chocolate Salon exhibit will be there!!
AGM:

When's the chocolate exhibit in NY?
According to the website elvira gave us, the "Salon du Chocolat" will be in New York from the 15th to the 18th November 2002 at "the International Metropolitan Pavilion."
I live in NYC, and never heard of that location, so can't tell you where it is.
However, I read that many European chocolatiers will not be at the NYC festival for fear of flying, etc. The Metropolitan Pavilion I believe is in the Soho area.
Elaine, did you mean Nov. 2002?? or Nov. 2001. 2002 is too long of a wait! :-)
I'll answer for Elaine, it's 2001
Thanks, Lori!
I am happy that this will be in NY soon, but I would really rather eat chocolate in Paris~ :) M
I agree with you Mia but beggars can't be choosers and Chocolate is an adequate consolation prize.
The web page said 2002, not 2001, in New York:
"The "Salon du Chocolat" will be in
New York from the 15th to the 18th
November 2002 at the International
Metropolitan Pavilion."
Well, I guess it's not TOO early to mark it on the calendar. I'll just have to console myself with chocolate in the meantime, maybe from Maison du Chocolat on Madison Ave, some of my very favorite!
Ess>what about Neuhaus at the Plaza :) or I guess a lb of Goiva truffles would tide me over~M
sorry-too early to type well :)
GODIVA
Mia, I've never had Neuhaus. I used to like Teuscher's (sp?) truffles, which had a shop near the skating rink at Rockefeller Center - maybe they're still there. But Maison du Chocolat is my favorite at the moment. They're just so damned expensive, but worth it as a special treat. Godiva's a step down, but is an okay consolation prize. I guess. Well, hell, if I have to. (This is from someone, by the way, who has eaten innumerable mini kit kats and snickers over the past couple of days with great lipsmacking enjoyment!) :-)
At the risk of this becoming an Ess & Mia chat :) I agree with you re: the hierarchy of chocolates...Godiva which used to be the best there was, is now a step down, there are chocolatiers all over the city (NY) and we are getting sooo picky:) Halloween used to be so fun, I couldnt wait for the kids to come home so I could go through their bags of goodies with them and get my share:) Now --it is slipping unnoticed into the neighborhood candy shop with baseball cap and sunglasses so no one will recognize the chocoholic on her hunt for the perfect fix~ M

When in Paris I have to give my husband a lot of credit for humoring me and my chocolate addiction...when we have dessert, I always get the fondant au chocolat...yummm..and he will get something different, and we will both have a taste...and it is very important that every visitor go to Angelina at least once for a cup of hot chocolate...I think this should be a Paris visitor requirement~and Mia & Ess, I think one of the pleasures of living in a large city like NY/London is the abundance of shops, large and small, offering treats for all tastes, but especially the chocolates!
