I always found a great selection at Fortnum and Mason.

Try Charbonnel et Walker on Bond Street. It is, I believe, originally a French company (hence, the "et"), but is excellent. We always buy the dark chocolate bars when we visit and I also highly recommend the Bittermints. It is rather small store on the West side of Bond Street and the sign is in navy blue. It is right by the Camper store and just a bit south of both Burberry's and Tiffany.

Cadbury's, and you can find it everywhere. It is much better than what is sold in the U.S. (Hershey's makes ours.) My favorite is the fruit and nut bar--I had one almost daily in addition to all the wonderful desserts with cream poured over. I did tell you all that I gained ten pounds in four weeks, didn't I?

Just got back yesterday. There is a chain of shops called Thornton's. Very affordable, wide selection, they will write names with icing on large chocolate eggs, rabbits, and ducks for Easter. In addition to chocolates they are famous for their toffee
( I bought some but haven't opened it yet) as well as fudge, and fruit candies. This may not be the top- drawer elite of chocolate shops, but
I have absolutely no complaints about their quality.

I forgot--Bendicks' mints are wonderful, too, at Bendicks of Mayfair, 7 Aldwych Street.

thought I'd pass on this website for the London-based "Chocolate Society"--they sell products as well

no spaces, just didn't have enough room

The best chocolate indulgence I ever had was a small chocolate mousse which I purchased at Harrod's. I've never found anything to compare and look forward to going to London again so I can get another one. Of, course, you'll just have to describe it to the folks at home since it probably won't travel well.
