Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - Buy Now or Wait?

We would like to take our children (ages 5 & 9) to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang while in London at the end of November. Should we suck it up and purchase really good seats online now (and pay a bundle) or is there a good chance we will be able to obtain half-price tickets at the TKTS booth on the day of the show? We are thinking about going mid-week Nov. 25 or 26. Thanks!

We wanted to be sure we got good tickets in May, so we bought tickets online way ahead of time. Our seats were great, but there were a lot of seats in the back half of the dress circle available. I bet you would be able to get pretty good seats when you get over there.
Good luck! (We loved the show, BTW!)

It's listed on the TKTS official site for this evening (a Friday night, no less!), so I'd think you might risk it for a midweek in November. You could try for say, Tuesday, and again for the following day if you don't get them.

But if you want to be *certain*, you're going to have to book in advance. You might try lastminute.com, which has advance purchase of theater tickets for particular shows and dates at discounted rates. (I once got great half priced tickets for the Royal Ballet on their site.)

Hi Cathy
I honestly don't think you will be able to get decent half price tickets in November.
The cast has recently changed over and the show is as good and fresh as it was at the beginning.
Gary Wilmott and Wayne Sleep are really popular in the UK.
If I were you I wouldn't want to dissapoint the children as it is such a fabulous show.

Good luck and I hope you all get to enjoy it.

If you want to plan ahead and be sure you have seats that you like I'd buy now. We always buy our tickets months ahead of time via TicketmasterUK and it works very well as we've always gotten great seats. We saw Chitty this past April and had 3rd row seats (orchestra). It was very enjoyable and everyone in the audience had a good time as far as we could tell (those with kids, and those without them..like us!) It's a fun show.

For the most part, it's been available at the 1/2 price ticket almost every day I was there a month ago (middle June) and if it is available as one of the posters said tonight (Friday) it probably will be available but then again you never know. If you have flexible plans, you can probably get 1/2 price tickets but please don't get angry at anybody here if you go and it's not available. You just never know.

I really appreciate everyone's advice and opinion! I *promise* not to get mad!

I think I will watch the ticket sales and if seats remain available I will take my chances on the TKTS booth. If they are selling then I will pay up. Worse thing that could happen is we don't get tix and will have to find something else to do in London - not to difficult!

Thanks again everyone.
