Chinatown?
Anyone know of a good place to eat dim sum?
|
Where in France will you be? Recommendations in towns that you're not visiting won't be much help.

Paris, is it in the 13th arr or 18th arr?
|
The one in the photos is in the 13th arrondissement. The other big Chinatown is in Belleville at the intersection of the 11th/19th/20th arrondissements.
There is a little Chinatown in my neighborhood in the 18th at metro Marx Dormoy. |
kerouac,
So, if we only have time to go to one, should we go to the one at the intersection of 11th/19th/20th arr? Do you know of any good place for dim sum there? |
Just about every place has dim sum, but the big traditonal dim sum madhouse (carts circulating among the tables) would be New Nioulaville at 32 rue de l'Orillon (11th arrondissement). Closed on Sunday and the other hours are extremely short for Paris: lunch 12:00-14:30 and dinner 19:30-22:30.
I prefer the Chinese restaurants that are open from 09:00 to 02:00. Even though I was disappointed with my last meal there, my Belleville headquarters has always been Cok Ming at 39 rue de Belleville in the 19th (open from 12:00 to 01:30). It is important to know that in France, dim sum is called "spécialités à la vapeur" -- you will see this on the menus everywhere. |
Thanks, kerouac!! That is very helpful. spécialités à la vapeur, huh? Gotta remember that when we peruse the menus. Thanks for the name of the one restaurant. Short hours, like you said.
Thanks! |
