child's passport still good 3 months before it expires?

We will complete our travel by mid-July to the Dordogne region - passport photo of my daughter was taken when she was 4 months and will expire in September - she is now nearly 5 years. Didn't have a problem when she was 3 - but someone told me the other day that a passport must be within 6 months of expiration to travel. I am a bit nervous timing wise sine we leave in May ---has anyone ever heard of such a rule or had a problem with a passport approaching expire date? Thanks!

You will find all answers here:

And it's not too late to request a renewal, you can order it "expedite".

see this recent thread on the same topic.

The age of the passport holder is irrelevant. 4mo, 4yrs, or 40yrs.

Thank you for referring me to that thread. Best to renew to be on the safe side...and to prevent what the French would call a "situation"! Thanks again.

Hi D,

Note that it is now taking about 4 weeks for expedited service - 10 to 12 for regular.

We got it in last week - it makes me feel so much better that her picture is current now so thanks!
