Children and restaurants in London
For those that have traveled with children in London. Which restaurants did you enjoy and did you find them a good choice with the children?
I have done a search but haven't really found what I was looking for I have one child that it doesn't matter where we go as she will always find something to order. I also have one very plain eater, who basically likes pizza, pasta, steak, lamb when he is in the mood, calamari, hamburgers, salmon, chinese and hibachi japanese cooking. This isn't for lack of trying on our part to get him to try new things and he sometimes does but his tastes run to what I have listed above. I don't want to dine at pizza or italian places throughout our stay in London and we really don't want to dine in places that we have back home like Rainforest Cafe, TGIF, Benihana, etc Any suggestions? |
Wagamama is a dream come true for your situation.
Pizza Express is surpringingly good. Belgo Centraal is fun with kids too (roast chicken if not mussels?) |
If you're going to go to Harrod's there's a good restaurant for kids on the same floor as the toys. I'll also ditto Wagamama & Pizza Express.

Yes, I agree that Wagamama is a good choice for you. They have several locations all over London.
Actually, I think the things you listed are fairly varied compared to some kids who only eat pizza, hamburgers and chicken fingers!! We are lucky that are kids are pretty adventurous eaters. We all love Chinese food and there is excellent Chinese food in London. Our favorite was Chinese Experience (118 Shaftesbury Ave.) in Leicester Square. We ate there twice and would have eaten there more, but we discovered it towards the end of the trip. He might also enjoy Roka (37 Charlotte St.) in Bloomsbury. A great Japanese restaurant. We went there the day we visited The British Museum. It was very crowded and we did have to wait a bit for a seat, but it was worth it. |
ga9497, given the variety of food your "plain eater" son seems to enjoy, you shouldn't have much difficulty finding restaurants in London.
Choose some place not too fancy/faddish, go rather early (say, 6-7pm rather than 8pm). Royal China (Baker St or Queensway) has good dim-sum lunch menu. Also a few Thai/S.East restaurant like Ekachai or Busaba Eathai may be another choice. For Italian, Zizi is a family-friendly chain of italian restaurants, do good wood-oven pizza. Here is a link we often use. http://www.london-eating.co.uk/occasions/kids.asp |
Thanks for the info everyone
Even though he does like a little more then the norm picky eater, he really has to be in the mood to eat the other stuff and when he does it has to be plain with just salt and pepper |
