Chicago fodorite pictures are up [and I need help!]

Go to http://it.uwp.edu/fowler/fodor.htm and click on "The Chicago Crew." <BR> <BR>You will see how much fun we had on April 28. You will also see that I am not good with names. So would the folks who were there PLEASE email me and fill me in??

Audrey May 14th, 2001 11:36 AM

I can't get this to work, Sally...

s.fowler May 14th, 2001 12:16 PM

Ouch. Seems to be working for others, but then I haven't been able to get to the paris "yellow pages" for months:( Did you cut and paste the following into your browser? <BR>http://it.uwp.edu/fowler/fodor.htm <BR> <BR>Be sure to note that it is fodor.htm -- no 's'. Email me if you are still having a problem.

Heather May 14th, 2001 01:17 PM

Thanks, Sally! I hope that I didn't really look that loopy in person. Ha! Well, I'll be taking lots of photos starting this week (yea!), so be prepared for the next get-together. <BR> <BR>How are plans shaping up for your trip?

s.fowler May 14th, 2001 01:19 PM

Well Heather I don't think you look loopy either in "real life" or the pictures:) I hope you have a fabulous trip indeed! And PLEASE email me with any help with names that you can :)

Deena May 14th, 2001 05:32 PM

Bravo, Sally! You have a great site. It was a fun gathering and I'm looking forward to future events. You and I didn't have much of a chance to gab at this last one though!

s.fowler May 14th, 2001 05:46 PM

Well Deena -- there is always the next one. <BR> <BR>But let me be clear -- it is the "fodorites" who have contributed that "make" the site. Without your pictures there wouldn't be anything to enjoy:)

Deena May 14th, 2001 07:50 PM

True, Sally. All the great contributions from the fellow fodorites make this site quite enjoyable. Love to see all the photos people send you. Brings back some good memories for me when I see familiar sights of places I've visited too.

Debbie May 15th, 2001 05:33 AM

I really enjoyed the pictures of the Chicago gathering-thanks to all who posted for those of us who could not make it!Debbie (I volunteer to provide nametags for the next soiree?)

s.fowler May 15th, 2001 05:51 AM

Thanks Debbie! I should have realized that my memory isn't what it used to be. I'm still hoping some of the others will help me out here:) <BR> <BR>I've also added RichardAB's site to the fodorite website page.

s.fowler May 16th, 2001 08:00 AM

Okay -- we've made some progress thanks to Heather and Kristi. But we're still a few names short here. Perhaps we will have a "name that fodorite" contest in a bit?

stacey May 16th, 2001 11:57 AM

i am going to chicago in july. any recommendations on things to do??? Am going to see a baseball game, see the art museums, what have i forgotten????

s.fowler May 16th, 2001 03:33 PM

Hi Stacey:) <BR> <BR>It would help if I knew where you were staying. Anyway.. in addition to the Art Institute and the Terra Museum [the latter is conveniently on the "Mag Mile" you could take a look at the Museum of Contemporary Art -- although I think it's all "building" and very little "art." <BR> <BR>Be sure to take a lake/river cruise. The one I recommend is run by the Chicago Architecture Foundation. Here's theri website: http://www.architecture.org/ They also have good walking tours of Chicago architecture. <BR> <BR>I'm assuming you're going to Wrigley Field -- okay. so I'm "National League." There are some fun restaurant/bars around that area. Just do a google.com search for "chicago restaurants" and you'll hit some sites that will get you started. <BR> <BR>There are other interesting places not right downtown -- I'm partial to the Mexican Fine Arts Museum -- but you'd need a car to get there. Website is: http://www.mfacmchicago.org/ They've just opened a new wing. <BR> <BR>Please feel free to email me with any questions.

Heather May 16th, 2001 04:56 PM

Hello fellow Chicagoans! <BR>Looks like there's another Heather on this site. :) I'm pretty new to fodors, but I LOVE to travel and I live in Chicago. What is this "Chicago fodorite group" you guys have created? Do you meet often? What do you do? <BR> <BR>Thanks! <BR>Heather (the other one)

Beth May 16th, 2001 06:10 PM

Thanks Sally! I did see the page and the photos look great. Next time I promise not to let my kids erase the digital photos! <BR> <BR>Heather - We are a group of travel "junkies" that meet once every coule of months to share travel plans, suggestions, pictures, stories, etc. We've had three events and all have been great fun. I normally "plan" them, even though planning really means making the reservation! We normally meet at Cafe Iberico on LaSalle. Although, the next one, which I'm calling the Fodors Midwest Summer Travel Bash, will probably be held somewhere outdoors. I'm looking for a nice place, so I'm open to suggestions from anyone. Someone already suggested the cafe at the Art Institute. If you'd like to join us, just send me an email and I'll add you to The List. I normally send out an Evite electronic invitation to see what date works for everyone. <BR> <BR>I think we have formed a great group of people and I know we would all like to see the number grow. Anyone interested in joining us, just let me know. <BR> <BR>Again, thanks to Sally for taking care of sharing our events with the rest of our Fodors friends. <BR>

Hi Heather II :) Beth is right. We have a *blast* -- I couldn't get a tidy picture last time because people wouldn't stop talking about travel! Do email Beth and get on Beth's list -- although Beth -- outdoors in Chicago in July??? [Okay -- so I'm an AC princess:)] And Beth -- I still need help with names...
