Comments from anyone who's stayed here recently? Size of rooms? Ambiance? Service? Linens? Bathrooms? Food? Room service? Checked the location on a map and it appears very good. What did you pay? Is it possible to stay in one of their suites in February for $185GBP?

This is part of the Red Carnation Hotel group. Anyone stayed at one of their hotels that could offer an opinion? Thanks in advance.

Although it is off season there right now.<BR><BR>One thing- I have been trying for three weeks to get a hold of them by e-mail- nothing works. From replying to their e-mail- &amp; from e-mailing the web site etc.<BR>If anyone form the hotel reads this- what's up??

I stayed at the Chesterfield Mayfair this past summer. This is an upscale (4+ star) hotel in a wonderful Mayfair location. The hotel is not adjacent to a major road--like so many in London are--so the area tends to be a bit quieter. About a 5 minute walk to the Green Park Underground station. <BR><BR>The standard rooms are small, but furnished to a very high standard with nice bathrooms, good heating/ac systems, etc. Staff is attentive, but not &quot;in your face&quot;. No experience with room service or restaurant (which looked very nice). Nice pub down the street and a number of small shops and take-away restaurants within a short walk. <BR><BR>Can't comment on February prices from personal experience, but their website does list &quot;junior suites&quot; for &pound;200, so you may be able to get one for less....<BR><BR>David White<BR>http://www.KidsToLondon.com

Hey zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz,<BR>I bid on the package and I paid, for 5 nights, a themed suite, one dinner, one full english tea and a bottle of champagne- 1125.00.<BR>Now keep in mind- that INCLUDES taxes- which are 17% and it is US dollars- Pounds would be more.<BR>I will write up this hotel when I get back- maybe I will do it in the rants and raves.<BR>

We stayed at their sister hotel last May, the Rubens, and really liked the hotel. Again, the rooms were smallish but well appointed with large bathroom and the full English breakfast buffet was great. We got an 84 pound rate for a standard room and full breakfast thru www.londontown.com.<BR><BR>Check ot the Chesterfield's website under their specials. Thanks to all for the replies. I'm really leaning towards staying here, but there seem to be so many wonderful places to stay in London, that I'm nervous about choosing the right hotel, especially because you can find much cheaper places in Feb-March. <BR><BR>David, you mentioned that the standard rooms are small, did you happen to see any of the suites? I'm wondering if they are worth the extra price. A good room is very important to me. Also, David, do you remember the name of the nice pub you mentioned? Or could you recommend any specific take-away places you visited as I may have a few meals in my room. Thanks for any help you can offer! <BR>

zzzzzz- if you go to the WEBSITE you will find LOTS of pictures of all the rooms! I don't think there is one for the bathrooms though. They have an awesome 3d type interactive map of all the sights near the hotel (and each hotel has it). Red Carnation has great web sites- only thing- they don't answer messages.....

&quot;zzzzzzzzzzzz&quot; <BR><BR>The pub down the street from the Chesterfield Mayfair is The Running Footman. <BR><BR>There is a pedestrianized street--Landsdowne Row--1 1/2 blocks east of the hotel that has several take away shops...including a bagel place (a rarity for London), a place selling full English breakfasts, and two miniature Starbucks. Why they need two Starbucks 100 feet apart is beyond me, but Landsdowne Row is a convenient spot to pick up food. There is also a Pret A Manger on nearby Berkeley Square...&quot;Prets&quot; have quality sandwiches for take away.<BR><BR>I did not get to see a suite at the Chesterfield. If you want extra space, it may be worthwhile. Nothing wrong with the quality of the standard rooms though.

Duh, Karen, I think somebody already did that!

We stayed at the Chesterfield for 5 nights in December, the first night we had a regular double room with a roll away for my daughter. We upgraded for the rest of the nights to a suite since the roll away made the room a little tight. Although we could have made the regular room work, we were feeling a little flush - sorry I don't recall how much it was.<BR>We thoroughly enjoyed the suite - it was very nicely decorated. The suite rooms were huge, it also had a little nicer linens/robes/slippers and a marble bath. <BR>We would thoroughly recommend this hotel and will stay there for our next visit. It was clean, extremely 'British', located conveniently, and the staff was warm and accomodating.<BR>The Red Lion pub just down the street serves great fish and chips (with mushy peas!). We chose not to eat at the hotel, but we did order room service often with great results.<BR><BR>
