Cheese Rolling in the Cotswolds! Results of today's fun and games!

The ancient and 'quaint' annual Gloucestershire pastime of chasing an 8lb Double Gloucester cheese down a near vertical hill took place today. Here is a report of the day's events...

The Daily Mail report is worth reading if only for its use of the phrase "the relentless Bank Holiday sun" - only ever previously used in English lessons as the classic example, like 'military intelligence', of an oxymoron.

And here's the BBC video. It's about the only sport they have left to cover.:

Has anyone mentioned that the English drink a lot more than most nations?

Goodness. All these injuries for an 8 lb of cheese?

Julia_T, you should have posted a *warning* for the daily mail link - now I need emergency eyewash after viewing the 2 photos at the bottom of the article!

yk, I'd be more alarmed at the fact that they use rugby players as cushions.

There are lots of even more excruciating clips of this on YouTube.

I'm surprised there aren't more head injuries than reported.

If you're prepared to hurl yourself at full pelt down a near vertical hill chasing cheese, you really don't need to worry about head injuries.
