Checking luggage at Giverny
I plan to stop in Giverny while traveling from Paris to Rouen by train. Does anyone know where I can check my luggage for a few hours? At Vernon train station? At the American Museum in Giverny? At the Monet home & gardens? Thanks.

Giverny is a couple of miles from Vernon station. It seems a bit odd to take your luggage all the way out there and all the way back. There are small lockers at the Musée de l'Art Américain, but they're really intended for coats and daybags and the like.
From memory, although Vernon station has a café and a newspaper shop attached, I don't recall a left-luggage office, but I could be wrong. That would be the obvious place. You could try emailing the Vernon tourist office: http://tinyurl.com/2x46ox Forgive me if your French is already up to the job, but the key word is "consigne" for left luggage, so I would suggest you ask something like "Y a-t-il un consigne à la gare de Vernon, ou est-ce que vous pourrez me renseigner sur d'autre moyens de déposer des bagages pendant une visite à Giverny?" |
Patric, merci, merci! Your giving me the French I need is very thoughtful -- and helpful! I know a little French but would not have phrased that properly.
I had to wait for a couple of hours at the Vernon station for the return train to Paris last time I was in Giverny, and I don't recall either a left luggage room or lockers. There will only be one small carry-on size bag, so perhaps the museum will have a place to leave it. Thank you again for your kind reply. GG |
In that case, I think the Musée de l'art américain should be OK. You might even get it into the locker. It wasn't exactly busy there when I visited, while the Monet foundation was packed out, and as I recall the desk staff there were pleasant enough.
