Checking in easyJet Airline, Paris Orly

After a very long and extensive research on this site and others, I finalized my trip to France and Barcelona. On the second leg of the trip, my family and I will fly on easyJet from Nice to Paris(Orly), arriving at Orly at 10:30. We then fly on another easyJet flight to Barcelona, which leaves Paris Orly at 11:55. I thought 1 1/2 hours between flights would be sufficient time for checking in for the other flight, but after booking realized that easyJet closes it check in desk 40 minutes before the departure. This gives us only 45 min from arrival from Nice to check in for Barcelona. Will we have enough time to make the Barcelona flight? I'm not familiar with the airport and not sure if we have to pass through security to check in for the connecting flight.

If you only have hand luggage then - assuming the flight is on time - you should make it. If you only have hand luggage I'd also look into checking in on-line so you don't have to worry about the check-in closing

Otherwise I doubt you have any chance.

Just to point out BTW that Easyjet DOESN'T interline luggage so you'd have to collect it & recheck it

Just a thought - why don't you get the train between Nice & Barcelona?

Thanks for such a speedy reply; I am impressed. Unfortunately, yes we will be checking luggage. We will be traveling from Aug. 3 - Aug 20, so we will be carrying luggage. As far as the suggestion for the train, intially, I was going to do this trip in reverse, go from Barcelona to Nice, via the train but plans changed and we reversed the order. And that is how I got into this pickle. The train from Barcelona to Montpelier leaves around 8:00 and arrives around 1:30 but it doesn't leave Montpelier until 3:00 and arrives 6 1/2 hours later. Basically, it would have taken most of the day and evening to make the trip, so I booked the flights and now find myself in this mess.

Have you considered an overnight train?

Going to www.bahn.de & clicking on "international guests" for the English version gives a train departing at 20:58 arriving Barcelona at 9:42 with a change at Port Bou. That gets rid of the problem of travel time

As for booking it I don't know but www.seat61.com could probably tell you how.

If that doesn't work I'd look further afield for two flights - somewhere like Amsterdam or Brussels - possibly Rome / Milan for a pair of flights. Sorry, you'll have to do the leg work but www.whichbudget.com & www.skyscanner.net will help. DON'T go via the UK as it's certain you'll have to go through immigration

send your luggage to barcelona by bus and run.

or skip this flight mess and book bus tickets .

it looks like the bus is 56 euros/person at www.alsa.es

or...this company should be able to ship your bags to barcelona for you for a fee.

then do online check in as suggested.. and run through airport.

I am seriously considering online-check in(much to the dismay of my teenage daughters who think you need a pair of matching shoes for every outfit). My question now is: what happens if the carry on baggage exceeds easyJet's limit of 21.7" x 15.7" x 7.9"? If, for example, the carry on is 22" x 16" x 8", do they charge a fee for the excess,do they deny you boarding or do they "hand check it" and you retrieve it as you leave the plane?

Have you also looked at their weight restrictions on carry on luggage?

Celli2 May 2nd, 2007 04:24 PM

Yes, it is 22 lbs per person, which given the size of the suitcase, unless you are packing some heavy equipment, the weight restriction shouldn't be too much of a problem.

alanRow May 2nd, 2007 09:39 PM

Easyjet don't have restrictions on hand luggage weight

alanRow May 2nd, 2007 09:43 PM

B*m - but they do tend to be very hot on hand luggage size

I'd check BTW that you can use on-line checkin from Orly
