Europe is a VERY big place. Give us a hint what you have in mind.

What part(s) of Europe?
What time of year?
How long is your trip?
Where are you traveling from?

Just anything we can work with.

sleeping in hostels or in a tent on campgrounds

A combination of biking, cheap train or bus, finding economy flights and city central airports.

Using friends and contacts for a couch to sleep on, find a hostel, an apartment or camp.

Use supermarkets for food, avoid eating out in touristy city central areas.

Don't but souvenir tatt.

Work and you'll experience Europe EARNING money.

An easy answer to an easy question.

I ran into a young guy in Europe that said skateboarding the cities and sleeping on buses between towns was the way to go. I dont recommend it though.

Traveling slow is the key, especially if you take an expensive long flight to get here.

Traveling in a small motorhome is an ideal way to see Europe VERY cheaply.Go off season for even cheaper rates & stay awhile at each stop, using your bikes, walking or mass transit to get around.

I'm surprised to hear that motorhomes are a cheap way to travel. Here in the US it'll cost $100+/day to rent one, and that doesn't include gas or mileage or paying for a campground or other place to park.

Not all that practical since the OP is a student who is too young to rent a motor home in Europe - or at least w/o huge insurance surcharges.

Also, since he is an American he (probably) will not be able to work in Europe.

He hasn't returned to either of his threads - maybe he forgot he registered/posted.
