Cheapest way to Manchester from London..

Can some one suggest the cheapest way to reach Manchester from London please.
In 98, I caught the train but was delayed for 3 hours!
My brother suggested taking a bus. Any websites that I can view.
Kim

Ron is right, take a National Express coach (check out Ron's website for this). The coaches are clean and often quiet, as most people take trains. They are also much much cheaper than the train (half the price).

I took the coach at christmas when the trains where in disarray and was very pleasantly surprised.

Coaches are fine and cheap, but they do get caught up in traffic.
Try the train. It should take about 2.5 hours and cost as little as £10 if you book ahead.
www.thetrainline.com is the site. I think you can book ahead up to 3 months. They can send to a U K address or have them waiting for you at a station. Keep the ref. number they give you!
Trains go from Manc. Piccadilly to London Euston.
Book ahead. Do not just turn up and go.
Fridays and Bank Holidays will generally always be dearer.

Hello Kimerley,

Standard single coach fare is £16.50.
Journey time is about 4hours 30minutes.

Nigel: I don't know when you did it for £10 by train, - many years ago, I think!

Steve

Virgin 21 day Advance Euston - Manchester Piccadilly is GBP 7.50 one way, 15 return. Currently Virgin is doisng a sale cutting a third off their special fares, reducing it to GBP 10 return. I've booked an adult and a child return Man-Euston for total cost of GBP 11 with a railcard. So, provided you book in advance through virgintrains.co.uk you can get a keen deal. As others have said, they will post tickets to a UK address (a friend's?) or you can pick up at the station using your credit card as ID.
