Cheapest way from CDG to 5th in Paris?
What is the cheapest or most cost effective way for a traveler concerned with their budget to get from CDG to a hotel in the 5th?
|
RER B from CDG to Paris where you can change to any metro line to within a few blocks of your hotel.
Airport buses i think cost a bit more and only go to selected destinations but if one is near your hotel it may be more convenient with bags, etc. |
"Cost-effective" is in the eye of the beholder. Kindly restate your question.

The absolutely cheapest way would be to take RATP bus #351 to Gallieni. Cost: two metro tickets (E1.40 x 2). Metro from Gallieni to the station closest to your hotel. Cost: one metro ticket (includes transfers). This would be a SLOW option.
If you buy a carnet of ten metro tickets for E10.90, then each ticket costs you E1.09 rather than E1.40. Fastest and next lowest in cost: RER B to Paris. Transfer to the metro as needed. Cost: E8.10. |
Tim: any idea of what airport bus transfers cost?
|
no, the absolutely cheapest way would be to walk or hitchhike.
|
Or, one could rent a car and sell rides to other travelers. This method could result in a negative net cost.
|
Bob -
Roissybus to Opera: E8.50. Air France bus #2 to Porte Maillot and Charles de Gaulle Etoile: E13 (E20 RT). Air France bus #4 to Gare de Lyon and Gare Montparnasse: E14 (E22 RT). |
merci, Tim!
|
Stealing a car and selling rides would increase the bottom line at the risk of a somewhat steeper downside.
|
Or you could hop the turnstyle at the RER entrance and end up at a metro station where you don't have to go thru some unhoppable barrier to get out.
|
Why am I not surprised? Start a post in order to have an easy to find thread on RER info from the airport (rather than a post on cab rides from the airport) and the suggestion is to steal a car.
Why am I not surprised? |
If that was your intent, why didn't you just post the cheapest way? Or at the very least a link to my Paris Transfers web page, where all six modes are summarized?
J'accuse! you of trolling. |
Trolling is not asking a straight forward question in order for there to be an easily found link on this board with the appropriate answers.
Good luck with your car service from CDG - via stolen cars. |
Trolling is asking a question in full knowledge of the answer with the intent of provoking other posters. Your apologia is unconvincing.

I'm not apologizing for nuthin' bubba.
I have nothing to apologize for. Now, recommending car theft is definitely worth apologizing for. |
Sorry, Tim, but the cost for the 350 or the 351 from CDG to Paris is 3 metro tickets, not two. It used to be 5!
I would take the RER + metro for 8.10 €. |
Mea culpa. It is indeed 2 tickets because only 5 "sections" now.
|
Taxi is the cheapest way, unless you want to mix with the common people.
|
:-) Funny, Eric!
