Cheapest Pay-As-You-Go Cell Phone for France???

Our daughter has checked out a pay as yu go Orange cell and it was 50 euro cent/minute. This seems high compared to ohter phones we've bought in Europe.

Anybody else have any suggestions? she will be mostly in France for six months, but will be traveling around the continent on breaks so would this French phone also work there or does she need to buy different SIMS? Im confused.

thanks!

The SIM should work anywhere a GMS system operates, but the price per minute might vary depending on where the call originates--check the terms of you original SIM. Is it essential that she choose it now, or would it make sense to wait until she gets to France? Other young people there are probably pretty well informed on this topic, especially if she'll be among international students or hostels.

thanks kayd. she is in france right now and woiuld like to communicate with her friends there. she has her US phone just for emergencies. Our older kids just bought local cell phones and it was pretyt cheap. Orange was the network in England that was cheapest and I don;t remmeber what it was in the Netherlands.
