Cheaper tickets are now available for the Kings Cross-Scotland stations sleeper train. £19 for a one-way journey if you book ahead. (Conditions apply etc.etc)

Thanks very much for the tip, Nigello. I never seem to see cheap fares.

Is the sleeper train from Kings Cross a replacement for, or a supplement to, the ones from Euston station?

janis May 11th, 2005 07:17 AM

No - I'm pretty sure Nigello meant Euston. The web site only shows London-Euston for sleepers.

There are just two overnight trains from London to Scotland, and both leave from Euston. One of the Caledonian Sleepers has carriages terminating at Aberdeen, Inverness and Fort William, and the other has carriages for Edinburgh and Glasgow. They are run by First Scotrail (www.firstscotrail.com), whereas the day trains are run by GNER and Virgin.
