Regarding AA Vacations, we've used them to go to Cancun and were highly pleased with the hotel and flight selections. Also I find their prices to be lower than the other airlines' vacation packages.

lreynold1,
Your husband will only get AA miles for AA partners. No AA miles for the United flight no matter who booked it. However, he can get credit for the United segment with United or any of its partners (USair, etc).

Repeating (part of) my third post on this thread... for the "regular weekday" crowd...

================================

... I am beginning to wonder if this is representative of fares, as low as I can expect to find for Thanksgiving week (the dates I am currently checking).

Any interest in a Fodorites' trip to Portugal at the end of November? Anyone?

Anyone care to share experiences traveling to Portugal that late in the fall?

replies?

We found that we didn't get AA miles on a trip to Madrid on BA for the portion from here to LHR, but we DID get miles from LHR to Madrid, and back.

We recently went to Juneau on Alaska airlines. My travel agent tells me they give AA miles, but I haven't checked to see if they are credited.

That AAdvantage/BA trans-atlantic thing is a unique exception to partner earning AAdvantage miles, I think. But I am still uncertain about Iberia.

AA gives 30% of miles in Iberia discount economy, 100% in higher-bracket economy fares, 125% in business class. No prohibitions on using IB over the pond.

Alaska flights earn 100% AA miles if you put your AAdvantage no. on the ticket.

Note the BA prohibition is only on flights from the US to London. Flights from Canada or Mexico earn AA miles (25% in discount economy, 110% in World Traveler Plus, 125% in business.)
