Cheap Transport, Rome to London?
 

I would like to know which airlines I should check for flights from Rome to London. I have checked Alitalia and BA, but both of them are expensive, I need a one way ticket. Also, I know there is an overnight train from Rome to Paris, how can I book this? Which company runs the train? Maybe, I'll take the train and then the Eurostar.

What suggestions/advise do fodorites have? Thanks in advance.

Have you looked at Ryanair or Easyjet?

They fly into Luton, Gatwick or Stanstead, rather than Heathrow.

Although you are going one way check the return trip tickets they are often cheaper. Then just don' tuse second half. You are not supposed to do this but I would in a heartbeat to save hundreds of dollars.

Have you checked Ryanair, Vueling, and Easyjet?
Just google " cheap airlines" and get on some search engines.

Vueling doesn't fly this route.


Ryanair is the cheapest, and they have several flights a day. (Easy aJet only has one flight a day). I notice Ryanair flys form Campino to London. What should I be careful about when it comes to the luggage with Ryanair?

Ryanair has much lower baggage allowance weight than U.S. airlines and any overage is very expensive. Go to the Ryanair site, and read up on baggage.

You are allowed a 15 kg total combined weight (about 33 pounds) for up to 3 pieces of checked luggage, and 10 kg (22 pounds) for carry on luggage (which must be smaller than U.S. carryon luggage (see the maximum dimensions). You will pay a fee for each and every checked bag, even if you are under the weight allowance, and an additional fee of 10Euro/kilo for any excess baggage weight.

They also close check-in pretty early, and if you are not checked in, even if you are standing in line, you are out of luck, so you need to get to the airport early, and read the check-in rules as well.

Not so much luggage - but when Ryanair says something then assume they mean what they say TO THE LETTER, not what most airlines would do.

Look at their list of charges as even without luggage you are going to pay a lot more than the headline price would suggest.

Also as non-EU folk you can't use online check-in
