cheap stay in Paris
Help! I am going to Paris in the end of September for a week with my friend (We are girls:-)
Looking for a very cheap hotel ($40-60 per twin room), but clean, with private shower or bath, without "animals" (pest) with a nice surrounding area to walk around safe. We don't need TV, and can leave in a small room. I found only Relais du marais, which is near Place de Republic. I heard that it is not nice area. Do you know anything about Esmeralda? [email protected] |
If you do a search, there are mized reviews for Esmerelda. Try Hotel les Argonauts...we stayed there in April for 69 euro per night for a double...with shower, toilet and breakfast. It was clean, and great location in the Latin Quarter. Try looking on www.eurocheapo.com for other ideas as well.

There is another thread started earlier today with the same question. Think it's called Cheap Paris hotels. Have a look. He's looking to pay 60e for a single. I think your price for 2 and clean and safe will be very difficult. At the current exchange rate you're talking about a maximum of 51e/nite for 2.

Try this one, I am sure others have mentioned on this board..
Lux Hôtel Picpus http://www.france-hotel-guide.com/h75012lux.htm 74, boulevard de Picpus 75012 PARIS Tél. international : +33(0)1 43 43 08 46 Fax international : +33(0)1 43 43 05 22 |
yeah, I posted on the other thread, very similar so it will be pertinent to you. Now he might have limited choices, but getting a twin for 40-60 euro will be extremely difficult. That's the rate of hostels in Paris. Anyway forget 40 euro, and start at 60.
We had some thread a while ago about a no-star Paris hotel in a Frommers travel article (the article wasn't real serious) and I found it was the Grand Hotel du Progres in the Latin Qtr. Now that's a good location and safe, and the hotel is apparently clean and has private bath. It had doubles around 55 euro, as I recall. YOu probably won't find it on any web site but can call or FAX them (if they have a FAX). see www.paris.org/Hotels for address etc |

This thread is the one mclaurie referred to, I think, but that is someone willing to pay 60E for a single, not a twin room. Your budget is quite low, but not impossible. You might find more recommendations on a site geared more towards backpackers like loneyplanet.com (Thorn Tree discussion board) or eurotrip.com. The Republique area is not bad, IMO. Is this the hotel? http://parishotels-net.com/Relais_du...otel_Paris.htm |
Thank you, guys. We thoght about it, and extend our budget to $80/night.
Relais du Marais - cost $77/night with taxes and breakfast. I looked at other chat (cheap Paris or something like that) and found out, that place de republic is horible and noisy and ugly. I searched through this chat. there are a lot of good deal but nobody mentioned where did they find those deals. |
I'll second the advice to try the Hotel Les Argonautes. It was recommended to us by some friends. We have reservations there for the last week in Sept.
It's in a great location and we are paying €71 for a double w/ bath. I believe the rooms w/o a private bath are about €50/night. Go here: http://www.eurocheapo.com/paris/list...argonautes.asp for more information. Good luck, Jennie |
I got a two star hotel in the 11th arrondessiment for $65 per night starting July 6 on Priceline.com. Check BiddingForTravel.com on how to do it. miltonSJU

Friends stayed at the Lyon-Mulhouse, just off place de la Bastille in the Marais and loved it. Rates 75-80 for a double.

Finally we decided to stay in private apartment - 347 euro/week in 12th near Nation (5 min walk southeast from Nation). Thank you for your advices!

I think you'll really enjoy that neighborhood. I certainly do. :)

How did you find your apartment? I have always wanted to rent an apartment in Paris but .....
