cheap/safe hotel barcelona
My daughter and her girlfriend will be in Barcelona for a week. They are college students on limited budgets and this is their first time out of the USA. I am trying to help them find a hotel in a safe area that is inexpensive. Any recommendations would be great!

missy,
The Hostal Girona might fit the bill. Here's my trip report from January 2007; http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34467790 Jim |
Check out the hotel ratings on tripadvisor.com. They have all price ranges and have user photos and other features. I used them to find the hotel I stayed at in Barca about a year ago, but it wasn't budget ($150/night). It was near the university metro, 5 minutes from Las Ramblas, but felt safe (we walked home late and never felt worried.)
Also, Rick Steves' Spain book has great budget accommodations. Barcelona is great--tell them to have fun! |
Goggle "international student travel" and you should come up with some youth hostal websites. My daughter stayed in one in Barcelona, and if she remembers the name, I'll pass it on.

I have stayed several times at a small hotel off Las Ramblas in the Gothic quarter called Hotel California. Nice rooms-modern, very clean room and bathroom, great location, and very reasonble, about 50 Euros
