I'm looking for a way to find a cheap one-way flight because I plan to spend about a year in Europe. I'll worry about the return fare later. Does anyone have any good suggestions that would be cheaper than buying a round trip and throwing the return away? Any special websites or agencies you'd recommend? Thanks.

Hi Matt,<BR><BR>You might be better off buying a round trip ticket. It is usually cheaper, and many countries require that you have an onward ticket when you enter. Try using www.Travelteam.com<BR><BR>They have pretty good international fares. Once you find what you are looking for you have to call their 800 number. We have a daughter in college in the UK and have bought her tickets through them. They handle open jaw tickets too. (flying into one city and flying out of another.)<BR><BR>I also think you need a round trip ticket. They are very suspicious of people buying one way tickets especially internationally. I don't know if it is even possible.

Here's the dilemma. I'm going to Prague to take a monthlong training course for certification as an English language teacher for non-English speakers. After that I will have a placement, arranged through my school,in Central or Eastern Europe. I don't know exactly where I'll be or for how long, or when would be a good time to return home for a visit. So, that's why I am considering a one-way ticket. All cheap airfares are usually a one month stay or less, and when you do spring for a more expensive longer term ticket, the change fee is terribly high if you start out by just randomly picking a return date. Thanks again for the help.

Matt, I heard a russian agency advertised one-year round-trip tickets, and I know they have tour groups to Czech Republic, so they may help you. If you buy a one-year ticket you can take a train or a local plane back to Prague for a return flight. Or they may advise you what to do or help with a one-way ticket. One problem with one-way tickets is that they cause a lot of questions at immigration. I did this once when I spent a summer in England. There were no questions on the way in, but I spent an extra 2 hours (and almost missed my flight) on my way OUT of the country. Even though I had a valid work permit. It was a huge pain, and I would not suggest simply buying either an open-jaw ticket that will let you return whenever you want, or just buy a round-trip each time you fly.

Hi Matt,<BR> Try ryanair.com. I paid $57 for three people to fly from Rome to Hahn (near Frankfurt)in March. Low cost airlines are popping up all over Europe since the European union deregulated the airline industry. Ryan air uses Southwest airlines as their model. The one way ticket thing might be a problem as others have said,but maybe two hours with security is worth it for you to save a bundle. Good luck and how lucky you are to spend a year in Europe. Tim

Czech airlines also sells open jaw RT tickets valid for a year. In off-season, the price is around $500.<BR><BR>They have a website that lists phone # for different countries; you could call and ask for a price but a travel agent might find you a better deal. <BR><BR>
