Cheap Hotels in Rome, Trastevere area for 2 days

We only have 2 full days in Rome. I would like to stay near Trastevere so we can walk the streets @ night after dinner and be walking distance to most attractions. What do you think? Help please and thank you!

We stayed in a relatively cheap hotel in Rome, but I would not recommend it although it was clean. Look for my trip report by clicking on my name; it's the one starting in Naples.

I've stayed at Hotel Trastevere.

I don't think it's in walking distance of most sights but I guess it depends on what you want to see. This hotel is not near Trastevere, it's in Trastevere.

What's your definition of cheap?

I guess I should say that we'd like to find something around $100 to $125 Canadian a night. Should we stay in some other district that is closer to visiting sights. We'd like to walk to things to see. Can you give me advice, please.

I haven't stayed here, but it meets your price guideline.

I've stayed at Arco del Lauro and walked to most places, but also took the tram regularly. You can't really stay in a more central place within your budget.

Trastevere is fine, and certainly strolling there at night can be pleasant, especially around P. Santa Maria in Trastevere.

Sorry Adrienne, but this is all new to me, I'm learning... We want to see the Vatican , St. Peter's Basilica, Sistine Chapel, Colosseum , Forum,Pantheon and walk the streets @ night. We arrive in the afternoon , so we have that evening, a full next day and we leave the day after @ 5::00 to flight to Athens. Can you help plan? Appreciate your advice, Thanks, Sue
Oh! Yes...also taste some great red wine ,try some real Italian pasta sauce, pizza and that great ice cream , that people talk about!
