Cheap Hotel in Rome, Italy
 

I may be dreaming but can anyone tell me if there is a decent hotel in the $80 range that is near the Spanish Steps or Trevi Fountain. I would like a double room with a bathroom. I do plan on going in low season in Feb. 2002. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, we stayed at a b and b near the Fountain de Trevi. The website is Rome Sweet Home.com. They are arranged by area, so it's easy to choose one. They also have apartments. Joan

Stayed at the Panda last September and would do so again. The location can't be beat and the pensione is clean and well run.

In reference to Tom's post above: I think the site he meant is www.eurocheapo.com. And it is a good site for finding bargain hotels in Europe. However, once you decide where you would like to stay, I recommend e-mailing or calling them directly to make reservations.

Hi! We stayed at a newly redone boutique hotel called Baileys in Rome. It was $80 USD a night with breakfast. Nothing fancy but clean with great service and a redone antique room. Very near everything. Also, I have used www.hotelreservationsnetwork.com for all my non-B and B stays in many parts of the world. Incredible deals, but the only down side is that you pay when you book. I have only had good luck.

My husband and I stayed in the Panda (double with private bath) and also would do so again. Marble everywhere, clean, great location, and a price that can't be beat. Very basic furnishings but very nice.

I highly recommend hotel 58viacavour de Luxe! <BR>www.58viacavour.it<BR>It is clean, quiet and comfortable, and it is only a few blocks from the Termini Station! it's on the 4th floor of an office building and has a very secure entrance, and it is not a typical hotel.The rooms are with view. The owner is very kind and helpful and speaks some English. There are only 8 rooms, so make sure you have reservations - and he only takes cash - but it's worth every penny! It made our trip to Rome very enjoyable!

I stayed at a small hotel near the Spanish Steps called the Hotel Margutta. They room was tiny but I had a private bath and was approx. $95.00 per night last April.

Hi, Katie. I just saw your message. I'd recommend the Pensione Panda. It was a pretty good location and had a nice staff. The room was small, but very clean. I shared a bathroom, and never had any problems. The only down side was that the Spanish Steps was not my favorite area of Rome. It's not a bad area, especially if you have an appreicaition for the fashion industry, but I didn't spend a lot of my time there. <BR><BR>I took my second trip to Rome in November and I decided to stay in the Campo dei Fiori area instead. I don't know if I'd recommend the hotel but it was a great location.
