Nice to Venezia...good trip?
Considering flying into Nice for ultimate destination of Venice (partially to avoid Milan and complications of Malpensa). Any suggestions from others who have made this journey...Ligurian coast, trains to Venice, etc.

Steve:

We flew into Linate and picked up a rental car in Milan, arrangements made through AutoEurope in US. Drove to Venice passing through Bergamo, Verona, and Vicenza en route. The Autostrada signs are fairly clear, we made great time and thoroughly enjoyed the stops in-between.

Kris

Good afternoon, Steve
We have flown both in and out of Venice to Lugano, which by train is about a five hour trip to Venice and is 35 minutes by air.
One most days of the week, there are two or three flights from Nice to Venezia all flown by Air Littoral, their flights FU111,FU603 and FU604, flite time listed
are one hour and twenty minutes. You can leave Nice at 920 and be in Venezia at
1040... Richard of Hickory Hills, Il...
Hi, Steve. We did this Nice to Venice trip a year ago with some wonderful sights inbetween. We loved every minute of it. We flew from Chicago to Paris to Nice. Arrived Nice around 8:30 p.m. and rented a car, drove to Chateau de la Chevre d'Or in Eze Village, in time for the last meal served in the restaurant. Spent 4 days in South of France visiting St. Paul de Vence, Grasse, Tourette sur Loup, Moulin de Mougin, and enjoyed small towns, cafes, balmy weather, relaxation. Returned rental car at Nice train station, got on the train for Milan, for the purpose of spending one night in Milan at the Hotel Excelsior Gallia (we walked to it -- 40 steps from the train station). We planned to have the evening in Milan so that we could taxi to the Duomo, walk through the arcade, and experience the Italians strolling. Early train to Venice with 4 days in Venice at Hotel Danieli. Taxi boat to Venice airport for flight to Paris, then flight to Chicago.

The only thing I would do differently next time would be to take the TGV from Paris to Nice. We had a very long wait changing planes in Paris, which, darn it, I'd forgotten could happen. The trains run on time.

Best wishes for a wonderful trip!

Steve, What's the problem with Malpensa? We are planning a trip to Italy next year and are considering using Milan as our destination point from US. Could you give some specifics? Thanks, Jim
