Hi I will be traveling to Europe for one month and im trying to do it on a budget. Does anyone know of any good and cheap hostels i can stay at ? Im traveling with a friend so we're looking to spend a maximum of 50 euros a night for a twin room. The cities we'll be visiting are

London
Rome
Venice
Milan
Zurich
Geneva
Paris
Nice

Have a look then ask for details on any that suit your budget & location.
Happy planning & good luck!

OK - what I'm going to sya probably won't please you . . . . But 10 major cities spread over 5 countries across 1/2 of Europe, in 30 days is just plain nuts. Plus you say you want to keep to a budget. Not only does every city change take 1/2 to one full day, they each also increase your costs a LOT.

I'd personally go back to the drawing board and cut your destinations down to 6 (8 absolute max). When you deduct all the travel time, 6 cities would leave you about 4 days free in each place.

Good luck! (Relook at Geneva and Nice and possibly Milan - to give yourself more time in each of the other cities)

Hi everyone thank you for all your replies. It has been very helpful.

Im thinking of spending only a max of 2 days per city with the exception of Milan. I will be getting a rail pass it costs 300 euros for 10 days (non-consecutive) so i figured that will help with the costs.

Also, i'll take budget from london to rome before beginning my travels through europe.

I recommend this web http://www.hostelrail.com where you can find a lot of cheap hostels. If u go to London try to take a place close to victoria Station, because it's good situated and the fares aren't too much expensive.
Good luck

Um, I don;t think you're gong to get a twin room in a hostel for 50 euros.

Based on prices here a bed in a dorm (10 or 12 person) room is about $40 per night - or $80 for 2 people. Some do have private rooms - but not for that kind of price.

You might try the web site of Hotelling International - usually clean and decent quality. Or look at the Let's Go student guides for info.
