Cheap Flights for long term Italian adventure??

I'm going to be interning at a museum in Venice starting in September, ending in January. My problem is that I can't seem to find a cheap flight? Everything is $600 + going from NYC. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Is it just that time of the year? Should I wait another month? Thanks.

Assume you have tried all the internet sites AND any consolidators who might be listed in the NY Times, etc. Suppose some might tell you you're getting a good price...historically prices for airafres to Europe won't drop until at least the middle of September..if then.

Lucky you. 4-5 months in Venice and a museum at that. You should be very knowledgable about the city when you finish your time there. Please don
t forget to post a report for those of us who aren't lucky enough to do what you're doing. Hope you find better prices but I doubt that that will happen. Sorry.

You could try flying to London and then secure a flight from "Ryanair". They have unbelievable fares to Italy.

I flew cheaply to Paris and then took an overnight train into Italy which saved me a lot.

Hi Sarah

Try http://www.eltexpress.com/. They have fares from JFK and Newark to London for about $400.
