We had a fabulous meal at North Sea. I'm not a huge fried food fan, but I just inhaled my fish and chips, which were served piping hot. There is a sit down side and a take out side.

I can second the reccomendation for Paul for breakfast, sandwiches and bread. Wagamama has the worst Japanese food I have ever had. I find Pret Manger to be mediocre at best. The sandwiches look good but are tastless. The Rock and Sole serves decent fish and chips. If cheap is important and you are students you may be able to eat at the cafeteria at the University of London on Gower st. Food is not good but it used to be very inexpensive.

the best fish and chips we have ever had was at sea shells....it is north of marble arch just past the first cicular roadway....

We ate many a reasonable meal at the Museum Tavern near the British Museum. Great Fish and Chips. I hate to disagree, but our worst meal was at Wagamama's. Party of 5 hated it! It was kind of like watered down Ramen noodles with bean sprouts. Sorry. We very much enjoyed the Thai Garden Cafe and Tandori Nights for great Indian. Tandori nights is near Govent Garden and The Thai Garden cafe is near Tottenham Court station. The West Cornwall Pasty shop at Covent Gardens was ok, but was a little bland. Try "EAT" cafe's for something quick and less expensive.

I was in London, taking a class, for about a month last summer. Finding inexpensive but tasty eats was a must. I also recommend EAT because they have a great choice of food from salads to dessert and at very reasonable prices. Plus take away (take-out) is cheaper so let them know when you are about to pay. I sure do miss EAT here in N.C. and London too. Have a wonderful time exploring London.
