Cheap airfares to munich this summer?
I am traveling to Munich in late July this year. Right now, airfares are around $1300.00. Ouch! If I wait, will airfares come down? Or is the fact that the dollar is weak causing problems. any leads on a deal?
Thanks!
Thanks!

It's really difficult to comment on airfares if you don't say what is the origination city, nor the duration of the trip (for example, leave on Monday, return four days later will almost always be over $1000, from anywhere in North America).
Try http://airtravelcenter.com/onetrav.htm
For the arbitrary dates of July 22-29, they have Chicago at $953, Washington for $817, $1060 for Phoenix.
You might find it necessary to look into another gateway city in Europe, and then, one of the low cost intra-Europe airlines (plus train or car) to get you to Munich more cheaply.
I might also recommend the Cheap Flights forum of www.eurotrip.com - - they focus on more or less nothing BUT ... well... Cheap Flights!
Best wishes,
Rex

Traveling on Saturdays will sometimes cost you a premium of $100, maybe even $200 , but right now, prices do NOT look good for you; best I've found so far is $1060 for Saturdays, $1031 for July 14-21.
Any chance you have FF miles for domestic free travel? NYC can be had for $816, maybe other cities have some lower fares.
And my suggestion for another gateway may not have much value in this situation; even Ryanair has nothing much better than 98 GBP (about $180) for RT LON-Salzburg (their closest airport).
Diligently watching - - and I do mean diligently - - twice a day, for the next 45 days, might get you $100 under this $1060. This will not seem worth it to a lot of people.

brollend:
UsAir through Charlotte is consistently coming up with the best price for these dates at $1013, either directly on their website or through cheaptickets.com.
I agree with Rex-flying in and out on a Friday or Saturday costs extra--can you leave or return a couple of days earlier? This may save up to $200 total!
