CHEAP ACCOMODATIONS?
Hi
I'm looking for cheap-moderate accomodations in these places: Rome Assisi Florence Milan Venice Help me, please!! |
It always helps when you tell us your budget. What's cheap to some might not be cheap to others.
|
Ok. My budget: 100 Euros for two people
|
Also depends on WHEN you are going. I stayed at the Hotel Violino d'Oro (as a single, but it was a double room, actually king size bed) for 60€ in July 2004. Posted on the door was the price of €200 for that room, and someone recently posted here about that hotel for €200, so it was a real price. Anyway, if you're going in July you might check it out, otherwise, definitly not cheap.
Same for Florence - Hotel Desire I got for 45€ also in July 2004 but I know it goes for more in "high" season. |

The cheapest place I can find in Venice that is actually on the island, next to the train station is Alloggi La Gondola. Only 50 euro / night for 2 people, private room, shared bath.

HI IL,
In Florence, I can highly recommend the B&B Peterson. www.bedinflorence.it More details on my trip report: http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34451044 ((I)) |
Try www.venere.com for cheap-moderate accomodations. Also try www.hostelworld.com. I have had good luck with both booking agencies. AND, they have reviews of the accomodations by past guests.
Good luck! |
Depending on dates you are going and if you are a single or double room (also important to know in making suggestions BTW), Pensione La Calcina in Venice might be in your price range and it is absolutely womderful. www.lacalcina.com

Oops sorry, I see you do mention two people.

I just booked a B & B in Rome that is slightly over 100 euros, but gets raves on trip advisor. Seems to be a good location, clean, has a few extras. Check out 58 Le Real B & B. It is listed in Lonely Planet and has lots of fans on trip advisor.

http://wwww.eurocheapo.com is good source for a budget traveler.
In Venice we stayed at Hotel Bernardi-Semenzato which isn't far from the vaporetto stop Ca D'oro. |
Try cross-pollinate and/or the Beehive in Rome; I stayed with some friends who rented an apartment in Trastevere through cross-pollinate quite a few years ago. Nothing fancy, but we had a great time.
http://www.cross-pollinate.com/ Also stayed at Hotel La Pallotta in Assisi about two or three years ago. Should be well below your price range. Again, quite barebones (no shower door or curtain, guy we dealt with only spoke Italian). They have a website but I can't find it. Check here for this and other Assisi hotels: http://www.assisionline.com/hotelpallotta/ |
The catholic church runs a series of accomations all over the country (your cities included). Expect to to pay about 40E per person per night. Always clean but be prpared for a curfew 10:00 to 11:00pm. There are at least two books that list specifics.

thanks to all.

Due to all the brouhaha about 58 Via Cavours, I changed my reservation to Hotel Sonya. Still curious about 58, though.

In Florence, the Hotel Europa on Via Cavour is having a special on their website of 70/euro night for a double. Clean and basic, need tolerance for the small bathrooom and a not-very-relaxing shower but most rooms had partial views of the Duomo. Free internet in the lobby, great cappucino and espresso in the mornings. Must be back in by 1 am or you make the old guy grumpy.
If you book on Venere here's a promotional code for a measly 4% off -- A8FBZEH. But I figure it covers the cost of tips for the housekeeping staff. Hotel Europa's own website had lower rates than venere. |
I've stayed at Hotel Europa in Florence and I loved it.
Incidentally, I saw you are interested in the Cinque Terre on another post. If you ditch the rental car, Albergo Barbara in the town of Vernazza rents double rooms for 65-75€ |
Venice is nowhere really cheap, but try www.ladolcevitarentals.com, they're offering some budget apartments (at least for the Venice price range) and good, reliable quality.
