Do you have a price range? To some people $150 is cheap and to others now.

We stayed in Westfalia (Pension) and found it walking distance to most of Munich.

I think it was about 120 DMs three years ago. We liked it. It's close to the oktoberfest grounds

Try Pension Seibel, a Rick Steves pick. Fantastic location just south of the Vitualienmarkt and a very easy walk to the Marienplatz. My husband and I stayed there in October. We had a little room at the back that was semi-shabby. The bathroom was tiled in brown and the light was pretty dim in there. The breakfast, though, was great and served in a cheery breakfast room. If you're OK with a basic, well-located accommodation, it'll do. We paid the equivalent of about 50 USD for the room with the included breakfast.

http://www.seibel-hotels-munich.de/pension/eng_details.htm

The family owns a hotel in Munich, Hotel Seibel, so be sure your reservation is for the property on Reichenbachstrabe.

Youth Hostels are wonderful, but not for anyone over age 26! Otherwise, sorry no ideas
